The Senior Manager, HRIS, Benefits and Total Rewards is responsible for overseeing payroll, benefits administration, HR systems, and compensation strategies to ensure compliance, equity, and efficiency while serving as a key advisor and data analyst within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee full-cycle payroll processing for U.S. staff, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and coordinating with payroll providers.
Design, select, and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
Lead the administration of leave policies, including FMLA, and advise on leave law interactions with other benefits.
Serve as the HRIS lead, maintaining system configurations, managing integrations, and developing HR metrics reports and dashboards.
Implement and manage a comprehensive total rewards strategy, including salary structure, job classifications, and market benchmarking.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards through accurate reporting and policy enforcement.
Identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives within HR operations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
8-10 years of progressive HR operations and total rewards experience.
Proven experience managing payroll, benefits, HRIS, and compensation functions.
Strong knowledge of U.S. legal regulatory compliance including federal, state, and local payroll laws, taxes, deductions, overtime, benefits withholdings, garnishments, and experience in international labor benefits laws is ideal.
Demonstrated experience with salary benchmarking, job evaluation, total rewards strategy, and data analytics.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds, including influencing management when appropriate.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in HRIS payroll systems and compensation software.
Experience in the non-profit sector or philanthropic sector.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), SHRM certification, or similar designation is preferred.
High integrity, confidentiality, fairness, ethics, good judgment, with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Physical ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
May require extended hours for urgent issues or to meet deadlines.
This position is based in Washington, D.C., with potential for limited domestic and/or international travel.
