Job Description

The Senior Manager, HRIS, Benefits and Total Rewards is responsible for overseeing payroll, benefits, HR systems, and compensation strategies to ensure compliance, equity, and efficiency, while serving as a trusted advisor and driving continuous improvement in these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee full-cycle payroll processing for U.S. staff, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and coordinating with PEO payroll providers.
  • Design, select, and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance HR systems (HRIS), manage data integrity, develop HR metrics reports, and support system upgrades and user training.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive total rewards strategy, including salary structures, job classifications, and market benchmarking.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies, including reporting and audits.
  • Lead and support benefits communication, open enrollment, vendor negotiations, and benefits contract management.
  • Advise employees and managers on leave policies, FMLA, and benefits interactions, ensuring smooth leave administration and return-to-work processes.
  • Monitor and analyze HR data to assess program effectiveness, identify process improvements, and support decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive HR operations, total rewards, experience managing payroll, benefits, HRIS, and compensation functions.
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll processing for U.S. staff and coordinating with PEO payroll providers.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll laws, taxes, deductions, overtime, benefits withholdings, garnishments, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience handling payroll reconciliations, audits, corrections, and payroll system configurations.
  • Experience designing, selecting, and administering employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, life disability insurance, leave, and wellness initiatives.
  • Experience managing the annual open enrollment process, benefit changes onboarding, life events, offboarding, and effectively communicating benefits plans to employees.
  • Ability to partner with brokers, vendors, and third-party administrators to manage benefits contracts, renewals, negotiations, and cost management.
  • Experience supporting FMLA leave administration, including communication with employees and coordination with leave management vendors.
  • Ability to advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and reporting requirements, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries and maintain benefits data accuracy.
  • Serve as the HRIS lead, maintaining system configurations, managing integrations with payroll, benefits, finance, and timekeeping systems.
  • Develop reports and dashboards for HR metrics analytics such as turnover, compensation metrics, payroll cost, and benefit utilization.
  • Lead or support HRIS system upgrades, expansions, user training, and documentation of workflows and policies.
  • Implement a comprehensive compensation strategy including salary structure, job classifications, market benchmarking, and salary survey analysis.
  • Lead annual compensation reviews, manage salary planning processes, and ensure internal pay equity and legal compliance.
  • Provide compensation benchmarking market analysis and support recommendations for organizational changes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for compliance, audits, and organizational needs, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and industry trends.
  • Monitor and analyze data to assess the impact and effectiveness of HR programs.
  • Maintain and enforce HR policies related to compensation, benefits, payroll, ensuring alignment with local, national, and international laws.
  • Identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and cost savings initiatives.
  • Physical ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk working on a computer, with potential for extended hours and limited domestic and international travel.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, fairness, and good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
