Job Description

The Staff Global Supply Manager at Aurora is responsible for overseeing the supply chain of complex optical hardware, managing relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers, and developing sourcing strategies to ensure reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective production of optical components for autonomous vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire supply chain for optical subsystems and components, ensuring reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for optical components and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand technology requirements and align supply chain strategies accordingly.
  • Manage relationships with optical suppliers and contract manufacturers, including overseeing their sub-tier supply bases.
  • Capture and analyze costs related to NRE, tooling, capital equipment, and materials to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers and contract manufacturers to secure supply and reduce costs.
  • Draft and finalize legal agreements such as purchase agreements and statements of work to secure commitments on pricing, capacity, and quality.
  • Monitor global market conditions, technology roadmaps, and supply/demand challenges within optical and manufacturing industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, with a proven track record of managing global supply chains.
  • Deep understanding of optical systems and manufacturing, including components like lenses, mirrors, lasers, photodetectors, and processes for coatings and precision assembly.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Contract Manufacturers for the production of complex, high-reliability products.
  • Strong analytical and cost modeling skills, with the ability to perform detailed should-cost analysis.
  • Exceptional ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Legal, and Finance.
  • Tenacity in solving problems, with a resilient and adaptable can-do attitude in a dynamic environment.
