Job Description
The Software Engineer will develop and maintain scalable backend systems and pipelines for large-scale map generation, supporting Aurora's autonomous vehicle technology and ensuring reliable, high-definition mapping for the Aurora Driver.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems for map building pipelines
- Develop and scale services and infrastructure to support large-scale map data processing
- Track the state of map generation pipelines and orchestrate various processing steps
- Collaborate with engineering teams on map algorithms, localization, and operational workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within data pipelines and orchestration systems
Requirements
- Proficiency with developing backend systems using gRPC, SQL databases, and MapReduce architecture in Python or C.
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems that can track state and orchestrate the various steps in map building pipelines in a robust and tractable way.
- Experience developing software in a production environment with at least 5 years of industry experience.
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues within large-scale data pipelines and orchestration systems.
- Experience with software design in complex systems with many dependencies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Benefits & Perks
Base salary range: $146,000 - $211,500 per year
Annual bonus eligibility
Equity compensation
Hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
