Job Description

The Senior Staff TLM Electrical Engineer at Aurora leads a team responsible for developing electrical hardware for LiDAR, compute, and other hardware products, collaborating across teams to design, test, and manufacture high-performance electronics that meet safety and quality standards in the autonomous vehicle industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers in developing electronics for LiDAR, Compute, and hardware products
  • Gather requirements and define hardware architecture for hardware products
  • Build, integrate, test, and debug hardware products using software tools and test equipment
  • Develop and mature electrical engineering processes to meet safety, quality, and performance standards
  • Collaborate with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to ensure high-quality electrical designs and support manufacturing
  • Manage project deliverables in partnership with program management
  • Identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes in collaboration with supply chain and NPI teams
  • Plan and develop team hiring and skill development to support future product roadmaps

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
  • A minimum of 4 years of direct, personnel leadership experience managing electrical engineering teams, including hiring, establishing best practices, managing performance, and supporting team growth.
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high-speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
  • High proficiency in analyzing systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI/EMC constraints.
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage power signal simulation and emulation input.
  • Proficiency with lab instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and electronic loads.
  • Partnering closely with program management to manage project deliverables.
  • Partnering closely with supply chain and new product introduction teams to identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes.
  • Ability to plan and promote a forward-looking outlook to hire and develop the team to meet future product roadmaps.
