Job Description
The Mission Control Specialist at Aurora monitors autonomous vehicle operations remotely, responds to vehicle trigger requests, manages safety and operational issues, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the safe and efficient testing and deployment of self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor weather, traffic, construction, and off-nominal activities along the route and determine appropriate actions.
- Respond to and resolve trigger requests from autonomous vehicles when Remote Assistants are unavailable.
- Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles during on-road and closed-course testing.
- Log real-time feedback on vehicle autonomy and platform performance for engineering analysis.
- Identify operational blockers, brainstorm solutions, and escalate issues with suggested resolutions.
- Establish and improve operational efficiency and best practices through cross-functional collaboration.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology, software, and operational changes.
- Work proactively toward achieving quantitative and qualitative operational goals.
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.
Requirements
- Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Consistent focus on safety
- Ability to think critically
- Willingness to learn every day
- Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Availability to work day or night shifts, including early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
- Ability to work in-office at least 3 days per week in a hybrid work environment
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $37.00 - $47.00 per hour
