Job Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer at Aurora will develop and integrate electronics for custom hardware used in self-driving vehicle systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, test, and bring high-quality electrical products from concept to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate electronics for Aurora's custom hardware
  • Gather requirements, define hardware architecture, and model electronics to meet performance metrics
  • Build, test, debug, and validate electronics on the bench and within systems
  • Collaborate with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature electrical designs for manufacturing
  • Support test infrastructure development to ensure product quality, coverage, and yield

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering
  • At least 8 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics
  • High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI EMC constraints
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input
  • Experience with lab instruments such as TDR, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and E-loads
  • Ability to build, integrate, test, and debug electronics on the bench and in systems
  • Partnering with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high quality electrical designs to manufacturing, including supporting test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets
  • Defining build, test, and having extensive prior experience launching product
  • Experience with custom sensor development and/or network design (desirable but not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of automotive requirements, safety framework ISO26262, and qualification processes (desirable but not mandatory)
  • Experience with both rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing
  • Programming and scripting skills in C, Python, or equivalent languages
  • FPGA and ASIC design experience (desirable but not mandatory)

Compensation/salary range: 181,000 - 262,000 USD per year
