Job Description
The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer at Aurora is responsible for developing and integrating electronics for the company's custom hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and guiding junior engineers to deliver high-quality electrical systems for autonomous vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate electronics for Aurora's custom hardware.
- Gather requirements, define hardware architecture, and model electronics to meet performance and product metrics.
- Build, test, debug, and validate electronics on the bench and within systems using advanced test equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature electrical designs for manufacturing.
- Support the development of test infrastructure to ensure product quality, coverage, and yield targets.
- Define and optimize build and test processes for product development and launch.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in electrical engineering practices and project execution.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering
- 10 years experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware
- Experience working with Mechanical engineering team on board design and device cooling
- Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics
- High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI EMC constraints
- Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input
- Experience with lab instruments such as TDR, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and E-loads
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
- Help define and optimize processes to streamline product development

Base salary range: $197,000 - $285,000 per year
