Job Description
The Director of Survey is responsible for leading survey operations, managing projects, developing client relationships, overseeing financial and team management, and driving business growth within a consulting and engineering firm specializing in land development and surveying.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for survey projects
- Manage client contracts, define project goals, and oversee negotiations
- Oversee project invoicing, accounts receivable, and financial alignment
- Coordinate internal communication and stakeholder engagement
- Mentor and support survey team members for professional growth
- Drive business development through marketing, client engagement, and proposals
- Ensure thorough documentation of survey projects using web-based tools
- Stay updated on industry trends and implement improvements in project performance
Requirements
- Proven experience in survey project management and leadership roles with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a land development-focused survey leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, engineering, or related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Professional licensure or certification in surveying, engineering, or related field.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to engage effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering, environmental, land planning, and survey concepts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a track record of handling multiple projects.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development.
- Ability to develop and execute a Project Manager Business Plan to steer survey projects towards success.
- Experience engaging with clients to define project goals, manage contract negotiations, and ensure agreements are in place before project start.
- Experience overseeing project invoicing, accounts receivable, and ensuring financial alignment with contracts.
- Ability to facilitate internal communication, foster team collaboration, and coordinate with stakeholders to define project parameters.
- Experience mentoring and supporting team members, promoting professional growth, and ensuring high-quality project outcomes.
- Ability to drive growth through strategic marketing, client engagement, and proposal management.
- Experience ensuring efficient and thorough project documentation using web-based tools.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and apply insights to improve project performance and outcomes.
