Job Description

A Field Application Engineer (FAE) at Astrodyne TDI provides technical support and application assistance to customers for power solutions, collaborates with internal teams to develop opportunities, and helps ensure customer satisfaction through troubleshooting, testing, and technical communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and application support to customers for power solutions, filters, and transformers.
  • Assist customers in understanding products and showcase field applications.
  • Participate in technical customer meetings and support design opportunities.
  • Coordinate with R&D to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Train partner FAEs to sell solutions and address customer needs.
  • Develop technical proposals and convert opportunities into sales wins.
  • Analyze applications and recommend expert advice.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and resolve design issues.
  • Interface with internal teams and customers to build relationships and provide project updates.
  • Support customer equipment testing for compliance and assist with product marketing materials.

Requirements

  • Experience with Power Electronics and EMC EMI
  • Experience with Engineering Project Management
  • Strong system and circuit troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to solder and rework to modify existing designs to meet new requirements
  • Bench testing of existing products including setups with thermal chambers
  • Support customer equipment testing for compliance with agency standards such as UL, CSA, VDE, CE
  • Possess an analytical mind-set and attack problems with great curiosity and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to interact with customers
  • Able to communicate effectively in English
  • The candidate must be located within their assigned region (UK or the Netherlands) and work out of a home office
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% within the territory on a weekly basis, plus around 10% out of region within or outside of Europe as needed
