Job Description
The Senior Manager, Project Engineering oversees and manages engineering teams working on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, ensuring technical design, development, and construction processes meet industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead engineering team reviewing PV, BESS, and HV designs for utility-scale projects.
- Review civil, structural, and electrical scope for RFP submittals and manage EOR during design.
- Oversee technical RFI responses and manage EPC during construction phase of projects.
- Perform due diligence on project documentation and communicate critical issues to management.
- Verify design calculations and supporting studies in accordance with applicable codes.
- Provide engineering budget estimates for project development and management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes such as NESC, NEC, IEEE, and others.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop best practices and design standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, required in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil disciplines.
- 8 years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with solar, BESS, or another related industry.
- 3 years of management experience.
- Electrical testing and field commissioning experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of engineering and renewable energy systems including solar PV systems with SCADA and monitoring systems, and BESS.
- Knowledge of site production design calculations, plan preparation, site collector system calculations, and report writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD design, ETAP or similar software, CYMCAP or similar software, PVsyst or similar software, WinIGS or similar software.
- Knowledgeable in physical substation design methods and their application.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.
- Willing and able to travel to construction sites.
