Job Description
The Manager of Real-Time Operations oversees the remote control and monitoring of renewable energy assets such as wind, solar, and energy storage, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement within a control center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise the remote control and monitoring of renewable energy assets.
- Provide direction and oversight to the Operations team in daily activities.
- Monitor real-time performance and operational status of wind, solar, and energy storage assets.
- Assist operators in identifying and troubleshooting abnormal operations and alarms.
- Perform periodic reviews of operator logs for accuracy and compliance.
- Support commissioning and acceptance testing of control tools and new projects.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
- Coordinate with various teams to execute operational processes and fleet performance reporting.
- Report operational incidents to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline, or relevant experience in electrical power generation in lieu of education
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Renewable Control Center Operations
- Control Center Dispatch experience preferred
- PJ M GO Certification required within 6 months of employment
- NERC Certification required within 12 months of employment
- Able to demonstrate technical knowledge of plant and system processes and experience in operating electrical or SCADA systems
- Able to interpret NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements
- Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet obligations to the Operations Team as issues arise
- Knowledge of functional system interactions and ability to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment
- Ability to make financial judgments based on real-time power plant equipment analysis and contract-related cost weighting risk versus reward
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
- Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis unsupervised and in collaboration with others
- Ability to work in difficult customer situations
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide goals
- Demonstrated self-starter with a positive attitude and a passion for excellence in embracing company goals and initiatives
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
