Job Description
The Senior Interconnection Engineer will lead interconnection efforts for renewable energy projects, coordinating with utilities, ISOs, and external consultants to ensure successful project integration from development through operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage interconnection activities, studies, and applications for renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate with ISOs, RTOs, transmission providers, and utilities to ensure cost-effective interconnections.
- Develop and oversee interconnection schedules and milestones.
- Support negotiations for technical studies and interconnection agreements.
- Oversee consultants working on interconnection applications, modeling, and studies.
- Assist project teams with design, construction, and commissioning deliverables related to interconnection.
- Support bid activities by preparing technical documents for RFPs.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and policies at ISOs and RTOs.
- Develop and implement methodologies, tools, and procedures to improve project lifecycle efficiencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Senior Interconnection Engineer or Interconnection Engineer in the renewable energy industry, utility, or RTO/ISO environment.
- Proficiency with software used in interconnection studies, such as PSS E, PSCAD, and PSLF.
- In-depth knowledge of interconnection procedures at utilities, ISOs, RTOs, and transmission providers.
- Ability to comprehend complex interconnection study reports and communicate their impact on projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with external and internal customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
