Job Description
The Senior Associate, Performance Engineer at Arevon is responsible for optimizing the performance of solar and battery storage assets through data analysis, monitoring, and development of tools, supporting project development, and driving operational improvements in a renewable energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maximize asset performance by developing tools and products to assess the health of solar and battery storage assets
- Implement and improve monitoring software for project data analysis and KPI reporting
- Develop new performance modeling methods and train team members on procedures
- Identify underperformance issues, develop strategies for optimization, and drive corrective actions
- Support equipment selection and procurement for inverter, battery, transformer, and tracker technologies
- Communicate with operations teams regarding revenue-impacting performance events
- Evaluate and improve software systems, processes, and procedures within performance and operational teams
- Coordinate testing and capacity verification during project completion
- Assist in technical due diligence for potential acquisitions and review project handover documents
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Solar, STEM Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 7 years of professional experience in Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Performance Engineering.
- Experience with Solar Modelling tools like PVsyst and PlanPredict.
- Excellent understanding of Operational Data and energy calculation methodologies.
- Proficient with Python and PVlib.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve workflows.
- Experience with the deployment of Machine Learning methodologies (preferred).
- Experience with Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) SCADA (preferred).
- Extended experience with data analytics, databases, and visualization tools such as Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Databricks, and Power BI.
- Ability to develop, implement, and improve methods for detecting, reporting, and analyzing performance issues of solar and BESS assets.
- Ability to lead the implementation of monitoring software to capture project data and perform detailed analysis for solar and BESS KPIs and monthly reporting.
- Ability to develop strategies to optimize performance of renewable assets and identify areas of underperformance, driving improvements and corrective actions.
- Ability to support project development with inverter, battery, transformer, and tracker racking technologies in support of equipment selection and procurement.
- Ability to communicate with the Operations Engineering team on revenue-impacting underperformance events.
- Ability to review technical documents and acceptance tests during project handover processes.
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external engineering and construction teams on project substantial completion testing and capacity tests.
