Job Description
The Senior Associate, SCADA Operations at Arevon is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and management of SCADA systems for renewable energy projects, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with vendors and internal teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support SCADA design, implementation, and testing processes for renewable energy projects
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure SCADA deliverables meet project requirements
- Develop and maintain exhibits for standardizing SCADA and control requirements
- Perform technical due diligence on energy storage and plant control systems
- Manage site acceptance testing and project interconnection deliverables
- Monitor real-time operations of solar and energy storage assets to ensure compliance and maximum availability
- Communicate with on-site personnel to evaluate alarms and irregularities and plan corrective actions
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on SCADA system development and testing
- Assist in managing requirements from energy regulatory organizations
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering.
- 1-2 years of experience in relevant fields; exceptional entry-level candidates will be considered.
- Strong working knowledge of medium and high voltage electrical systems as relate to utility scale solar plants and battery energy storage systems.
- Experience in dealing with control systems and communication infrastructures related to automation.
- Prior understanding of operation of hybrid generating assets, i.e., photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical explanations.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work with others under all situations.
- Ability to work within a project team, as well as analyze, troubleshoot, and prioritize problems independently.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Understanding of safety principles to safely work on electrical equipment.
- Ability to develop and maintain exhibits for standardizing SCADA and control requirements for PV and BESS projects.
- Ability to perform technical due diligence towards upcoming technologies in energy storage and plant control systems.
- Ability to assist in managing site acceptance testing for projects.
- Ability to assist in managing the deliverables related to SCADA and plant communications outlined within project interconnection agreements, CAISO New Resource Implementation Process, etc.
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of high voltage electrical system operations.
- Ability to monitor real-time operations of solar and battery energy storage plants to ensure assets meet contractual and regulatory obligations and are maintained for maximum availability.
- Ability to communicate with on-site personnel to evaluate alarms and irregularities, plan, and take corrective actions while understanding the impact on operational metrics.
- Experience in collaborating with vendors and associated parties for SCADA design, implementation, and testing.
- Experience in assisting with the development of turn-key EPC technical documents and supporting enforcement of project contracts.
