Job Description

The Senior Analyst, Power Markets Modeling, is responsible for developing and maintaining short-term production cost models to forecast market prices, analyze grid and market scenarios, and support decision-making in renewable energy operations within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Build, manage, and maintain short-term production cost modeling tools using Dayzer and Tranzer.
Oversee daily backcast processes with appropriate weather, fuel inputs, outages, and topology.
Collaborate with Market Operations and Origination teams to incorporate market-specific views into models.
Perform scenario analyses to assess sensitivities and impacts on market outcomes.
Develop approaches to model batteries and large load generation patterns.
Analyze drivers of congestion market outcomes based on supply, demand, renewables, outages, bids, and facility limits.
Calibrate models to market outcomes, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
Develop and maintain automated reporting, visualization, and benchmarking tools to communicate market insights.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics or related quantitative discipline.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electricity markets in a consulting, commercial, engineering role or experience at an ISO.
Competent programming skills including at least 3 years experience with numerical Python.
Team-oriented and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and see projects through to completion.
