Job Description
The Preconstruction Manager will collaborate with development, procurement, and construction teams to estimate, review, and de-risk utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, ensuring accurate cost and schedule planning to support project development and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project EPC estimates to assist in project pricing.
- Review engineering plans, site studies, and develop cost estimates.
- Work with teams to complete project due diligence and de-risk projects.
- Review and normalize EPC contractor bids, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts and change orders with procurement and construction teams.
- Create and analyze construction schedules, optimizing third-party EPC schedules.
- Develop and improve estimating tools and methodologies.
- Analyze industry and market trends to inform project decisions.
- Prepare reports on trends, patterns, and predictions for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technical teams to identify process improvements.
Requirements
- Experience in renewable energy, specifically utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems.
- A 4-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, mathematics, construction management, or a similar discipline, or 4 years of solar BESS professional experience in construction, project management, or procurement.
- A track record of working well within a team environment, taking ownership of processes and procedures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, and Outlook.
- Ability to create project level schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively, and work efficiently.
- Experience with ArcGIS, Auto-CAD, PV-Case, Python, and Bluebeam is preferred.
- Up to 25% travel required.
