Job Description
The Preconstruction Manager will collaborate with development, procurement, and construction teams to estimate, review, and de-risk renewable energy projects, primarily utility-scale solar and battery storage systems, by preparing cost estimates, schedules, and analyzing industry trends to support project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project EPC estimates to assist in project pricing.
- Review engineering plans, site studies, and develop cost estimates.
- Work with teams to complete project due diligence and de-risk projects.
- Review and normalize EPC contractor bids, identifying opportunities and risks.
- Negotiate contracts and change orders with procurement and construction teams.
- Create and analyze construction schedules, optimizing third-party EPC schedules.
- Develop and improve estimating tools and methodologies.
- Analyze industry trends and prepare reports on patterns and predictions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and present analysis reports to stakeholders for decision-making.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, mathematics, construction management, or a similar discipline, or 4 years of solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) professional experience in construction, project management, or procurement.
- 1-2 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, or construction management.
- Experience in utility-scale solar and/or battery energy storage projects is preferred.
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, and Outlook.
- Ability to create project level schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively, and work efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of processes and procedures.
- Up to 25% travel availability.
