Job Description

The Associate Engineer will provide technical oversight and support for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, including reviewing designs, managing project documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and support the design of PV, BESS, and HV systems for utility-scale projects.
  • Assist in evaluating civil, structural, and electrical scope for RFP packages and project documentation.
  • Manage EPC during the design phase, including array layout and performance calculations.
  • Perform due diligence on project documentation and identify potential issues.
  • Review electrical, civil, and structural designs and supporting calculations for compliance with codes.
  • Provide engineering budget estimates for project costs and timelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and construction teams to develop best practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, required in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil disciplines.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with solar, BESS, or another related industry.
  • Electrical testing and field commissioning experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering and renewable energy systems including solar PV systems (including SCADA and monitoring systems) and BESS.
  • Knowledge of site production design calculations, plan preparation, site collector system calculations, and report writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD design, ETAP or similar software, CYMCAP or similar software, PVsyst or similar software, WinIGS or similar software.
  • Knowledgeable in physical substation design methods and their application.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.
  • Able and willing to travel to construction sites.
