Job Description
A Senior Tax Associate specializing in State Income and Franchise Tax, responsible for assisting clients with tax strategies and compliance within a dynamic, growth-oriented CPA and advisory firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review state income and franchise tax returns for clients.
- Advise clients on state tax planning and compliance strategies.
- Research and interpret state tax laws and regulations.
- Assist in tax provision calculations and related reporting.
- Support clients during tax audits and examinations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in state income and franchise tax compliance and planning.
- Strong knowledge of state income and franchise tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing and reviewing state income and franchise tax returns for various types of entities.
- Ability to analyze and interpret state tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Proficiency in tax research and the use of tax software relevant to state and local tax filings.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for working with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing tax documents and calculations.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment with a collaborative approach.
- Knowledge of federal tax principles as they relate to state income and franchise tax.
- Understanding of nexus, apportionment, and other state-specific tax concepts.
- Ability to stay current with changes in state tax laws and regulations.
- Willingness to adhere to firm policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.
