Job Description

A Senior Full Stack Engineer at Amber will develop and support energy automation technologies, including home device integrations, customer web and mobile apps, and real-time energy pricing systems, to help accelerate the adoption of renewable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support home automation integrations for batteries, hot water systems, pool pumps, and upcoming EVs.
  • Create and maintain mobile web applications for customers to monitor and manage energy usage.
  • Build and enhance a real-time pricing and billing engine for energy data.
  • Design and implement features using React Native, React, TypeScript, AWS Lambda, GraphQL, DynamoDB, and Postgres.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable energy automation solutions.
  • Contribute to a high-trust, remote engineering culture focused on outcomes and effective communication.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Full Stack Engineer with the ability to work across multiple layers of the technology stack, including front-end and back-end development.
  • Proficiency in developing and supporting home automation integrations to batteries, hot water systems, pool pumps, and upcoming EV integrations that control electricity usage in response to pricing and renewable availability.
  • Experience developing mobile web applications for customers to monitor and manage their energy usage.
  • Experience working with a pricing and billing engine for real-time energy pricing.
  • Proficiency in using React Native for mobile app development and React for web frontends.
  • Experience working with a Serverless Lambda backend on AWS.
  • Proficiency in using Typescript for development across the entire stack.
  • Experience working with Apollo GraphQL in the middle layer of the application architecture.
  • Experience working with DynamoDB and Postgres databases, selecting the appropriate database for specific workloads.
  • Ability to work predominantly remotely within a high-trust environment with transparency and accountability.
  • Availability to work within core collaboration hours of 7am - 12pm Tuesdays and Thursdays London time to enable meaningful collaboration with Australian colleagues.
  • Full working rights to be based in the UK, Ireland, or Germany.
  • Willingness to travel to London for onboarding and approximately every 2 months for team collaboration sessions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical team members and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively, maintain a sustainable work pace, and communicate workload and capacity clearly.
  • Experience in a full-time engineering role, with a salary expectation between 75,000 and 100,000 GBP/EUR per annum, including employee stock options.
