Job Description

The Director of Product will lead the development and scaling of Amber's core energy platform, shaping product vision, building high-performing teams, and driving the global expansion of innovative renewable energy solutions for utilities and consumers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and maintain the product vision and strategic direction for Amber's core platform.
  • Build and lead the systems, practices, and talent necessary to scale the product team effectively.
  • Develop and support home automation integrations, mobile apps, pricing and billing engines, and licensing platforms.
  • Ensure the product solutions are deployed and adopted across multiple utility partners globally.
  • Create and uphold high-quality product standards and cross-functional collaboration as the company scales.

Requirements

  • Experience in building and leading product teams with the ability to develop and support home automation integrations such as solar, batteries, electric vehicles (EVs), and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing mobile web applications for customers to monitor and manage their energy usage.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining a pricing and billing engine for real-time energy pricing.
  • Ability to build and support a licensed technology platform that powers utility partners across multiple regions, including Europe.
  • Strong understanding of systems and practices necessary to keep a growing product function coherent and high-quality as the organization scales, including establishing effective practices, rituals, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and lock in a product vision, ensuring strategic alignment and clear direction without micromanagement.
  • Experience in building product capability and talent, fostering a high-performing team environment, and developing leadership within the product organization.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product management or related roles, with a track record of delivering real-world outcomes in technology-driven environments.
  • Educational background or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, or product management.
  • Ability to operate effectively within an executive leadership context, collaborating with C-level stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in or with utility or energy technology sectors is preferred but not explicitly mandatory; a strong understanding of renewable energy markets and grid integration is advantageous.
  • Candidates must be based in Australia and currently hold the legal right to work in Australia; the company is not looking to relocate candidates but may sponsor existing employees with a current working visa.
