Job Description
A Senior Data Engineer responsible for maintaining and enhancing ETL pipelines, managing data ingestion from multiple sources, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and supporting platform migration in a large-scale enterprise BI environment within the media sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance ETL pipelines across multiple data domains.
- Manage data ingestion from diverse sources such as S3, Azure Blob, SFTP, and APIs.
- Investigate, debug, and resolve pipeline failures in a production environment.
- Develop and improve data transformation logic and understanding of data processes.
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and error handling mechanisms.
- Monitor pipeline health and contribute to system observability improvements.
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to support platform stability and evolution.
- Support the migration of infrastructure from IBM Cloud to AWS.
Requirements
- Proven experience in ETL pipeline design and maintenance in a production environment
- Hands-on experience with orchestration tools such as SSIS, Prefect, Airflow, dbt, or Azure Data Factory
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong Python skills
- Experience with data ingestion across multiple patterns including cloud storage (S3, Azure Blob), SFTP, APIs, and real-world messy fragile sources
- Solid understanding of data transformation logic and data modelling principles
- Experience with data quality checks, validation rules, error handling, and monitoring
- Ability to investigate, debug, and resolve pipeline failures in a live production environment
- Experience managing and enhancing ETL pipelines across multiple jobs and data domains
- Experience supporting platform migrations, specifically from IBM Cloud to AWS
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
