Job Description
The Preconstruction Services Manager is responsible for guiding and managing preconstruction efforts for complex infrastructure and environmental projects, including cost estimation, value engineering, constructability reviews, and procurement strategies, to ensure successful project initiation and transition into construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide preconstruction efforts including constructability reviews, value engineering, estimating, and procurement strategies.
- Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives throughout the pre-construction phase.
- Facilitate the development of construction plans, including preparing bid packages and logistics layouts.
- Participate in pre-bid and pre-award meetings to support project planning and execution.
- Resolve design-phase challenges and price alternative concepts to optimize project outcomes.
- Manage costs across contracting, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and bidding processes.
- Support a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction by ensuring compliance with standards.
Requirements
- Experience supporting complex infrastructure and environmental initiatives, with a focus on preconstruction services.
- Ability to work closely with Design Build National Practice Leader, Project Managers, and cross-functional teams to guide preconstruction efforts.
- Proven experience in driving constructability reviews, value engineering, estimating, cost control, and procurement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure cost objectives are met across contracting, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and bidding for all major projects.
- Experience ensuring compliance with defined cost, schedule, and quality standards throughout the pre-construction period.
- Ability to facilitate a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction phases.
- Experience resolving design-phase challenges, pricing alternative concepts, and contributing to the development of construction plans.
- Proficiency in preparing bid packages and logistics layouts, and participating in pre-bid and pre-award meetings.
- Strong understanding of managing project issues proactively, managing costs, and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management within the engineering, environmental, or construction sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Physical ability to perform tasks related to project planning and review activities, if applicable.
- Ability to work remotely with proximity to regional offices preferred.
