Job Description
A Mid to Senior Software Engineer responsible for developing core services and APIs that manage and interpret real-time signals from diverse distributed energy resources to support virtual power plants in wholesale energy markets, emphasizing systems engineering, reliability, and full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build core services and APIs to support Voltus's virtual power plants
- Develop and implement business logic for managing distributed energy resources in wholesale energy markets
- Interpret real-time market and asset signals into asset directives and operational insights
- Design and maintain systems with high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause solutions
- Engage in data engineering tasks using tools like Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka
- Contribute to both frontend and backend development, emphasizing systems thinking and domain-driven design
Requirements
- Deep experience in data engineering and backend engineering, with a requirement for proficiency in building core services and APIs that interpret real-time market and asset signals into asset directives and operational insights.
- Experience with systems engineering principles, emphasizing high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Go and Python, which are part of the primary tech stack.
- Experience with frontend development using React is encouraged, but not mandatory; candidates with experience in frontend engineering are also encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS, to support the deployment and operation of services.
- Experience with data-engineering tools and technologies such as Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Knowledge of systems thinking and techniques like Domain Driven Design to manage complexity in software architecture.
- Ability to work remotely from the US or Canada, with authorization to work in these locations, and adherence to company policies regarding remote work and travel.
