Job Description
This internship offers civil engineering undergraduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in traffic and transportation infrastructure projects, including data collection, analysis, preliminary design, and development of construction plans, working alongside professional engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and collect traffic data
- Complete intersection evaluations and corridor studies
- Conduct analyses using simulation and modeling software
- Prepare preliminary designs for traffic signals, signage, and striping
- Develop construction plans for traffic signals, staging, and maintenance of traffic
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an interest in traffic.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2026 from mid-May through mid-August.
- Ability to work primarily from an office or assigned project site, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.
- Willingness to observe and collect traffic data, complete intersection evaluations and corridor studies, and conduct analyses using simulation and modeling software.
- Ability to assist with preparing preliminary designs and developing construction plans for traffic signals, construction staging, maintenance of traffic, and signing striping.
