Job Description

The Head of Commercial Strategy will lead market positioning, competitive differentiation, and pipeline development for Sword's AI-powered mental health solution, Mind, aiming to establish it as a category leader through strategic influence, market intelligence, and product-market alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish Mind as the category leader in mental health solutions across target markets.
  • Shape product positioning, market messaging, and competitive differentiation strategies.
  • Drive pipeline generation and develop commercial intelligence to outperform competitors.
  • Serve as the external face of Mind's commercial narrative and influence internal product evolution.
  • Ensure sales teams are equipped with positioning, proof points, relationships, and market insights to win against competitors.
  • Align market needs with product development to reinforce Mind's position as the category leader.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a high-impact individual contributor in a strategic leadership role related to commercial strategy, market positioning, or competitive differentiation within the healthcare or mental health industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships with health plans, self-insured employers, brokers, consultants, and platform partners to establish market presence and leadership.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that ensure a product wins against established competitors in the mental health and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) space, with a target win rate of north of 75-80%.
  • Deep understanding of mental health care delivery models, including AI-supported care, clinician-in-the-loop models, and three-way care models involving members, AI care specialists, and licensed psychologists.
  • Ability to shape and communicate the external commercial narrative and internal market insights to influence product positioning, pipeline development, and market perception.
  • Strong expertise in market intelligence, competitive analysis, and pipeline generation to support the establishment of a category-leading position for Mind’s AI-powered mental health solution.
  • Legal right to work in the United States; candidates must be eligible to work without immigration or work visa sponsorship, as it will not be provided.
  • Full-time availability, regularly working at least 25 hours per week.
