Job Description
The Senior Data Platform Engineer will build and operate scalable data systems and platforms that enable data accessibility and self-service for clinical, operational, AI, and product teams, focusing on modern streaming lakehouses, distributed processing, and durable workflows to support Sword's healthcare AI initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate scalable data systems at scale.
- Design and optimize storage formats and query engines.
- Develop and maintain low-latency data pipelines and workflows.
- Create and enhance self-service and agentic data platform experiences.
Requirements
- Experience in building or operating data systems at scale, with the ability to reason fluently from storage format up to query engine.
- Ability to shape self-service and agentic experiences layered on top of data platform foundations.
- Experience with modern streaming lakehouse architectures, distributed processing for low-latency data movement, durable workflows coordinating complex operations, and API-first interfaces.
- Understanding of data platforms as products, including designing and implementing data systems that support self-service and agentic interfaces.
- Proficiency in designing, building, or maintaining data systems that support clinical, operations, AI, and product teams.
- Experience with data storage formats, query engines, and data processing at scale.
- Candidates must possess a valid EU visa and be based in Portugal.
