Job Description
A Senior Project Developer BESS is responsible for leading the full lifecycle development and execution of battery energy storage projects for corporate clients, including feasibility analysis, project planning, stakeholder management, and operational handover, within a new energy storage business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess technical and commercial feasibility of BESS opportunities and analyze client needs.
- Lead the full project lifecycle from concept to operational contract management, including technical sizing, business case development, and permitting.
- Oversee project execution activities, including engineering validation, construction oversight, and testing.
- Manage long-term operational contracts, monitor asset performance, and coordinate with stakeholders for operational strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and support the development of processes, templates, and best practices for the new business unit.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience developing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) or similar grid-connected energy assets such as solar, combined heat and power (CHP), demand-side flexibility, or microgrids.
- Strong understanding of Battery technologies, system integration, EMS controls architecture, grid connections, network operator processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with EPC delivery models and project finance principles.
- Proven track record of taking energy infrastructure projects from concept through construction or operation.
- Ability to manage technical, commercial, regulatory, and multi-stakeholder elements of complex projects.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build, improve, and scale processes in a new business unit.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with corporate clients.
- Ability to travel to client sites when required.
