Job Description
The Senior Originator at STX is responsible for engaging with clients and market participants to develop and execute renewable energy projects, including power purchase agreements and offtakes, while leveraging expertise in environmental commodities and decarbonization strategies to drive business growth in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain network of developers and upstream market participants in renewable projects
- Collaborate with sales and trading teams to source and execute renewable energy credit offtakes, PPAs, and VPPAs
- Analyze and synthesize complex risks and opportunities into actionable strategies
- Engage with prospective clients to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions
- Drive business growth by capitalizing on new opportunities and optimizing offerings in the environmental commodities market
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at a project developer, consultancy, trader, wholesale market participant, and/or financial institution focused on renewable energy project development, long-term offtakes, and power purchase agreements.
- Experience in deal-making within renewable energy and/or electricity markets.
- Strong credit, financial analysis, quantitative, and modeling skills.
- Degree in Finance, Business, Energy, Engineering, or related fields.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
- Ability to work in or be willing to relocate to New York, NY or Houston, TX.
- Ability to synthesize complex risks and opportunities into succinct and actionable directions.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and accountability.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of the capital stack for United States wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
- Experience maintaining a network of developers and upstream market participants in the renewable project space.
- Experience working closely with Renewable Energy Credit sales and trading teams to source and execute REC offtakes, PPAs, and VPPAs.
