A Manufacturing Engineer at Solid Power will develop and optimize lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes, lead small-scale processing, implement improvements using Lean Six Sigma, and collaborate across teams to enhance quality and reduce costs in a fast-paced, pilot-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain industrial automation equipment for lithium-ion cell manufacturing
Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve manufacturing processes
Design and identify hardware to support process inspection
Train operators on new manufacturing processes
Lead small-scale slurry processing, including equipment operation, testing, and troubleshooting
Document engineering processes through work instructions and standard operating procedures
Analyze production data to evaluate and improve process efficiencies
Collaborate with other departments and team members to optimize manufacturing operations
Identify and implement cost reduction and quality enhancement strategies
Track and ensure timely completion of SRC countermeasures
Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
At least 2 years of related industry experience, preferably with lithium-ion cell manufacturing and testing.
Experience working with industrial automation equipment related to lithium-ion cell manufacturing.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies to implement changes in a cross-functional manner.
Proficiency in designing and identifying hardware to aid in inspection of manufacturing processes.
Ability to train operators on new processes to a proficient level.
Experience leading small-scale slurry processing with a team and proficiency in operation, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
Experience in documenting engineering processes including writing work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Data analysis skills related to production data to determine process efficiencies.
Ability to work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members.
Ability to find ways to reduce cost and maximize quality.
Ownership of SRC countermeasure tracking and ability to work with peer group to ensure countermeasures are completed on time and deemed effective.
Ability to flex coverage to support off-shift tasks as required.
Ability to be in a Dry Room environment for extended periods.
Certification in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred but not required), with certification required within the first year in role with company support.
Experience with SolidWorks (preferred).
Experience with Minitab or JMP (preferred).
Experience in a production environment (preferred).
Experience with process data analysis and statistical analysis (preferred).
Physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary, including eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.

Salary range: $65,000 - $95,000 per year
