Job Description
The Head of Performance Engineering leads a team responsible for analyzing and optimizing the performance of Silicon Ranch's solar and battery power plants through data monitoring, engineering reviews, and process improvements to ensure efficient and reliable renewable energy operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Remote Operations Team, setting priorities and providing mentorship.
- Analyze data from solar and battery facilities to identify trends and root causes of equipment failures.
- Support decision-making for asset management and operations through data analysis.
- Oversee calculation of energy losses due to equipment outages and identify failure modes.
- Escalate complex performance issues to internal teams and third-party providers.
- Develop and improve automation processes for monitoring and reporting using data platforms.
- Create and update SOPs related to monitoring, operations, and compliance requirements.
- Train and develop operators in NERC CIP operations and other technical procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with coding in Python, R, or a comparable platform
- Experience with power systems engineering, electrical engineering, or solar performance engineering
- Experience with Fabric Azure
- Intermediate knowledge of how solar systems are installed and operated
- Expert knowledge of how solar systems ideally or power systems are installed and operated
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in power generation system design, development, construction, or operation, with at least 3 years of experience in Solar and/or Battery systems
- At least 3 years of work experience analyzing data from power generation equipment or other manufacturing process data
- 3 years of management experience leading engineering or other technically focused teams
