Job Description
The role involves hands-on mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly, and modification of proprietary synthesis reactors and supporting systems, working closely with engineers and vendors to build, troubleshoot, and maintain multidisciplinary equipment in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of proprietary synthesis reactors and supporting systems
- Read electrical schematics and design electrical distribution and control panels
- Pipe tube fitting for process gas plumbing, exhaust, and cooling water systems
- Source materials and collaborate with vendors to complete builds
- Perform quick-turn fabrication and modifications in the machine shop
- Collaborate with engineers to commission synthesis, manufacturing, measurement, and test tools
- Work with vendors and contractors to complete projects and facilitate handoffs
- Ensure a safe work environment and handle hazardous materials properly
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on work experience in a field with multidisciplinary systems, i.e., experience with at least two of the following: mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, or software systems integrated together on a single platform.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power fundamentals, sensor signal troubleshooting, and field wiring best practices.
- Ability to use multimeters and a variety of wiring hand tools.
- Conscientious, curious, and deliberate approach to problem-solving.
- Consistent and reliable project completion, from routine maintenance to new builds to retrofits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with Sila employees and external contractors.
- Proven track record to surface problems constructively.
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a periodic basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Ability to move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts.
- Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Ability to reach low shelves or items on the floor.
- Ability to enter spaces narrower than 3 feet.
- Ability to climb stairs or over containment walls.
- Availability to work a regular shift Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $46/hr to $58/hr, depending on experience and skills
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Work environment perks: Onsite work, safety equipment provided, ability to wear respiratory protection, movement of items up to 50 lbs, ability to climb stairs and enter narrow spaces
