Job Description

A senior Cost Manager role focused on delivering innovative, digitally-enhanced cost management solutions across complex construction projects, overseeing all project cost aspects from inception to completion, and fostering collaboration and continuous improvement within a forward-thinking consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project costs throughout all stages, including initial estimates, risk-adjusted forecasting, and close-out, to ensure financial transparency.
  • Lead pre-construction estimating and post-contract cost management, including handling complex change orders with detailed cost analysis.
  • Provide clear, actionable reports to stakeholders to facilitate efficient project delivery.
  • Develop scalable, repeatable best practices, tools, and processes in collaboration with the team.
  • Foster the professional and personal development of team members while supporting client improvements.
  • Integrate digital tools and methodologies into cost management processes, moving beyond static reporting.
  • Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Requirements

  • Mastery Cost Management background with at least 10 years of experience on construction projects.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English communication skills; additional language abilities are appreciated.
  • Extensive experience working directly with clients in a construction environment, ideally including stints with Tier 1 or Tier 2 Contractors.
  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive commercial strategies for complex construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and cost control, from initiation to close-out.
  • Demonstrated success in leading negotiations with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to secure optimal terms and favourable outcomes in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience managing project costs through all stage gates, integrating QCRA and risk-adjusted forecasting to provide a no surprises financial environment.
  • Ability to lead pre-construction estimating within scope and post-contract live cost management, including managing complex change orders with deep-dive cost analysis.
  • Capability to provide simple, actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience developing scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with teams to enhance long-term impact.
  • Ability to maximize the development of team members personally and professionally, supporting client improvement as well.
  • Willingness to travel every other week within the UK to support regional operations; European travel is desirable for those willing to travel further afield.
  • Impact-oriented professional with a track record of making projects and organizations better beyond just doing the basics.
  • Relentless approach to dealing with people, demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • Ability to embrace digital transformation and lead the integration of project management elements through digital tools, streamlining workflows, and maximising control.
  • Experience in data centres or high-tech industrial projects is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement commercial strategies for complex projects, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and cost control from initiation to handover.
  • Demonstrated success in leading negotiations with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to secure favourable terms in fast-paced environments.
