Job Description
The Cost Manager Construction role involves overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects, utilizing digital tools for dynamic cost management, and collaborating across teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards, with a focus on innovation and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supercharge client service by delivering advanced digital-powered cost management and dynamic project insights.
- Oversee all commercial aspects of construction projects from initial concept to close-out, ensuring cost control and risk management.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with project managers, planners, and design teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
- Innovate by designing new processes, implementing scalable solutions, and exceeding industry expectations through progressive thinking.
- Lead the integration of project management elements via digital tools, streamlining workflows and maximizing control.
- Manage project costs through all stages, including estimating, risk-adjusted forecasting, and managing change orders to protect client interests.
- Provide actionable reports to stakeholders to improve project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement scalable, repeatable best practices, tools, and processes for long-term impact.
- Lead and develop the commercial team, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Mastery Cost Management background with at least 10 years of experience on construction projects
- Proficient in written and spoken English communication skills; additional language abilities, with Norwegian considered an advantage
- Experience working directly with clients as a seasoned Cost Commercial Manager, ideally with some stints working for Tier 1 or 2 Contractors
- Proven ability to develop comprehensive commercial strategies for complex construction projects, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and cost control, from initiation to close-out and handover
- Demonstrated success in leading negotiations with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to secure optimal terms and favourable outcomes in fast-paced environments
- Experience managing project costs through all stage gates, integrating QCRA and risk-adjusted forecasting to provide a no surprises financial environment
- Ability to lead pre-construction estimating and post-contract live cost management, including managing complex change orders with deep-dive cost analysis to protect the client’s interests
- Capability to provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively
- Willingness to travel every other week to support regional operations within the Nordic market
- Experience working within the Nordic market
- Desirable: Prior experience in Data Centres or high-tech industrial projects
- Desirable: Proven ability to develop scalable and repeatable solutions, tools, and best practices in cost management
- Desirable: Demonstrated success in leading negotiations with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to secure optimal terms and favourable outcomes
- Ability to think outside spreadsheets and embrace a digitally enhanced approach to cost management
- Relentless approach to dealing with people and a track record of making projects and organizations better beyond just doing the basics
