The PCB Designer II at SOE is responsible for creating high-performance circuit board layouts for various applications, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet project specifications, and ensuring manufacturability and quality standards in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design high-performance PCB layouts from concept through manufacturing handoff for various applications.
Ensure manufacturing readiness by applying DFM best practices, performing design rule checks, and coordinating with fabrication and assembly vendors.
Produce high-quality layouts and footprints aligned with IPC standards and company best practices.
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and signal integrity engineers to optimize layouts for thermal, EMI, and mechanical integration.
Inspect incoming PCBAs, address footprint or layout issues, and provide feedback to improve future designs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or a related field
Hands-on professional experience with professional ECAD tools, such as Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence, PADS, etc.
Demonstrated ability to translate requirements into manufacturable PCB layouts
Understanding of PCB specifications and properties including stackup materials, trace space, via sizing, impedance, transmission lines, trace capacity sizing, and propagation delay
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
Basic computer skills, proficient with common word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools
Comfort working across multiple projects, adapting to changing requirements, and making informed decisions with incomplete information
Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in Redmond, Washington, USA
Applicant must be eligible to work on export controlled projects under U.S. Government export control regulations, including being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b a 3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
