The PCB Designer II is responsible for the end-to-end design of high-performance printed circuit boards across various applications, ensuring manufacturability, testability, and durability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and own end-to-end PCB layouts across various applications, ensuring manufacturability, testability, and durability.
Create schematics and develop PCB layouts that meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices, perform design rule checks, and coordinate with fabrication and assembly vendors.
Produce high-quality PCB layouts and footprints aligned with IPC standards and best practices.
Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize layouts for thermal management, EMI, and mechanical integration.
Inspect incoming PCBAs, address footprint or layout issues, and incorporate feedback into future designs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or a related field.
Hands-on professional experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence, PADS, or similar.
Demonstrated ability to translate requirements into manufacturable PCB layouts.
Understanding of PCB specifications and properties including stackup materials, trace space, via sizing, impedance, transmission lines, trace capacity sizing, and propagation delay.
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
Comfort working across multiple projects, adapting to changing requirements, and making informed decisions with incomplete information.
Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in Redmond, Washington, USA.
Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects, which requires being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b a 3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Ability to own PCB layouts from concept through manufacturing handoff across power electronics, RF, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital applications.
Experience with performing design rule checks (DRC) and interface directly with fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve issues and ensure manufacturing readiness.
