Job Description
The Supervisor of Renewable Project Accounting oversees the financial management and reporting of utility-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, managing month-end close processes, and supervising accounting staff in a dynamic energy company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for renewable energy projects.
- Record and review financial transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliations, in accordance with US GAAP.
- Oversee intercompany billings and ensure accurate reflection of business transactions in the ledgers.
- Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data and reporting.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and support documentation, including lease accounting (ASC842).
- Perform variance analysis and financial reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Research and resolve technical accounting issues related to renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years in general accounting.
- Audit experience is required.
- Supervisory experience of 1-3 years.
- ERP system experience is required, with a preference for NetSuite.
- Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and formulas, and proficiency with other Microsoft Office products.
- Experience working in project accounting within engineering and construction, or Energy industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with financial reporting for renewable power plants such as Photo Voltaic, Battery Energy Storage System, Data Center, and understanding of renewable energy tax incentives.
- Detailed understanding of the life cycle of projects and project accounting principles.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with various levels of management and clients.
- Must be highly detail-oriented and results-focused, with strong organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong work ethic, team player, and a high degree of professionalism with flexible work assignments.
- Strong sense of ethics and ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 5 times per year, with locations including San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, CA, Washington D.C., Phoenix, AZ, Dallas, TX, and Houston, TX; open to remote work.
