Job Description
The Supervisor of Renewable Project Accounting oversees the accurate financial management and reporting of SB Energy's utility-scale renewable solar and storage projects, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls, while leading a team of accountants and collaborating with various stakeholders to support the company's energy infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for renewable energy projects.
- Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and ensure accurate financial data management.
- Oversee and review work of junior and overseas accountants to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.
- Coordinate with project managers and internal teams to ensure proper reflection of business transactions in financial statements.
- Prepare consolidated financial reports and maintain lease accounting data in accordance with ASC842.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and respond to ad hoc organizational requests.
- Research and document technical accounting issues, ensuring adherence to US GAAP.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years in general accounting.
- Audit experience is required.
- Supervisory experience of 1-3 years.
- Experience working in project accounting within engineering and construction, or Energy industry is preferred.
- Experience with financial reporting for renewable power plants such as Photo Voltaic, Battery Energy Storage System, Data Center, and understanding of renewable energy tax incentives is preferred.
- ERP system experience is required, with a preference for NetSuite.
- Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and formulas, and proficiency with other Microsoft Office products.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing working requirements.
- Detailed understanding of the life cycle of projects and project accounting principles.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with various levels of management and clients.
- Must be highly detail oriented and results focused, with strong organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong work ethic and team player.
- High degree of professionalism and flexibility in work assignments.
- Strong sense of ethics and ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 5 domestic trips per year once normal travel resumes.
- Ability to perform all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting issues.
- Experience with SOX compliance is preferred.
- Experience liaising with external auditors for annual audits is required.
