Job Description
The Senior Structural Engineer at SB Energy will oversee the design, review, and analysis of structural components for utility-scale solar, energy storage, and data center projects, supporting internal teams and ensuring compliance with standards while contributing to innovative energy infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform project design reviews of structural drawings and calculations for solar trackers, buildings, foundations, and industrial structures.
- Review and analyze surveys, environmental, hydrology, and geotechnical reports to assess project feasibility and ensure compliance.
- Prepare exhibits and quantity estimates for project components.
- Attend site construction meetings and conduct site observations to monitor progress and quality.
- Assist in developing internal tools to streamline project review processes.
- Conduct value engineering to optimize project designs for cost, performance, and compliance.
- Review new technology products for use in projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering with at least 2 years of experience in utility scale solar projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, Lpile.
- Deep understanding of U.S. building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, AWS, ASTM.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to perform project design reviews at specific milestones throughout the final design process and coordinate with internal reviews and approvals by key stakeholders.
- Ability to review and analyze topographic surveys, hydrology, environmental, and geotechnical reports to assess project feasibility, estimate costs, ensure compliance with engineering standards, and identify issues affecting proposed design.
- Experience in preparing exhibits and quantity estimates.
- Ability to attend site construction meetings and conduct site observations.
- Experience in conducting value engineering of project designs considering civil, geotechnical, and structural design best practices, specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability.
- Ability to perform new technology reviews of products to be used on projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically.

Compensation/salary range: $14,000 - $170,000 base pay, plus potential discretionary bonus
