Job Description
The Senior Structural Engineer at SB Energy is responsible for reviewing and analyzing structural designs for utility-scale solar, energy storage, and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with standards, supporting project development, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver reliable and innovative energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform project design reviews of structural drawings and calculations for solar trackers, buildings, foundations, and industrial structures.
- Review and analyze topographic surveys, hydrology, environmental, and geotechnical reports to assess project feasibility and ensure compliance.
- Attend site construction meetings and conduct site observations to monitor project progress and quality.
- Assist in developing internal tools to streamline project review processes.
- Conduct value engineering of project designs to optimize cost, efficiency, and compliance.
- Review new technology products for use in projects to ensure suitability and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering with at least 2 years of experience in utility scale solar.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, Lpile.
- Deep understanding of U.S. building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, AWS, ASTM.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
- Organizational skills.
- The position requires up to 25% of domestic travel.
