Job Description
This role involves providing legal counsel to support SB Energy's renewable energy projects, including solar and storage development, acquisitions, financing, and contractual negotiations, to facilitate the company's growth and energy transition initiatives.
Responsibilities
- •Provide legal counsel to support the company's growth and project development in renewable energy segments.
- •Support project and corporate financing, including debt, tax equity, and equipment financing structures.
- •Negotiate and review acquisition structures and documentation for pipeline growth and market entry.
- •Assist with review, negotiation, and drafting of real estate agreements and title issues.
- •Draft, review, and negotiate project documents such as power purchase agreements, hedge transactions, EPC, and O&M agreements.
- •Manage and supervise outside counsel, review invoices, and ensure legal budget adherence.
- •Provide legal guidance on issues related to development and operations of renewable energy projects.
Requirements
- •JD and strong academic record from a leading law school
- •Licensed to practice law in applicable state of residence
- •5 years of relevant experience at a major law firm or with a sophisticated in-house legal department
- •Significant experience with respect to transactions in the renewables industry, with a focus on M&A, real estate, and/or project development and finance
- •Ability to work independently and as a team member
- •Ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple sources
- •Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- •Project management skills
- •Ability to negotiate
- •Ability to provide a high level of client service and build consensus across a matrixed client organization
- •Ability to interface with all levels of the organization
- •Ability to take lead on responsibilities within the job description, with support from outside counsel and other internal legal team members
