Job Description
The Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer at Samsara is responsible for designing and implementing reliability strategies for hardware products, analyzing performance data, and collaborating across teams to ensure high-quality, dependable hardware that enhances customer experience and supports the company's mission to improve physical operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, operations, and support teams to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Design reliability processes throughout the product development lifecycle, including modeling, testing, and validation.
- Set reliability requirements and allocate targets to subsystems to ensure hardware durability and performance.
- Lead product quality investigations, including root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Evaluate defect trends and field failure data to improve incoming materials and outgoing product quality.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through field failure analysis and feedback loops.
Requirements
- Experience with stress testing fatigue testing vibration and shock testing electrical stress and environmental stress
- Experience with failure analysis methodologies
- Understanding the physics of failure and the application of stresses to underlying failure mechanisms
- Experience with Design for Reliability concepts
- Experience with hardware reliability tests, third-party test oversight, and test execution
- Self-motivated, proactive, creative and critical problem-solving capabilities
- MSc or PhD in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related field
