Job Description
A remote automation engineer role focused on developing and enhancing automated testing frameworks for Samsara's IoT products, ensuring high product quality and reliability through hardware and software integration, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion automation frameworks and collaborate with engineering teams to design APIs that prioritize automation.
- Define quality goals, expand test coverage, and implement an automation-first testing strategy.
- Automate testing of new features and regression test cases to reduce regression cycle time and improve product quality.
- Build and execute automation tests simulating real-world scenarios to identify defects and regressions.
- Develop automation strategies to support testing throughout the product lifecycle.
- Integrate hardware infrastructure for simulation, hardware validation, and product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- At least five years of experience in developing automated test frameworks and software tools for product development and validation.
- Strong understanding of test system architectures and understanding of build, release test pipeline within SDLC.
- Understanding of embedded or distributed systems.
- Experience in setting up automated test environments and building test beds with physical hardware.
- Demonstrated proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams with diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with testing devices that use wireless protocols such as BLE, WiFi, LTE, and GNSS.
- Proven experience in defining test plans, triaging test failures, and reporting results and relevant metrics.
- Experience in designing and developing hardware infrastructure for testing applications, e.g., power measurement tools, RF testing, etc.
- Experience with data analysis tools and packages, including SQL, Pandas, Databricks, and others.
- Hands-on experience with test instrumentation, including power supplies, power analyzers, battery simulators, call boxes, and GPS simulators.
