Job Description
The Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer at Samsara is responsible for designing and implementing reliability strategies for hardware products, analyzing performance data, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure high-quality, dependable hardware that enhances customer experience and supports the company's mission to improve physical operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, operations, and support teams to ensure product quality and customer experience.
- Design reliability processes throughout the product development lifecycle, including modeling, testing, and validation.
- Set and allocate reliability requirements and targets for product subsystems.
- Lead product quality investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze field performance, manufacturing data, and defect trends to identify quality improvements and continuous enhancement opportunities.
Requirements
- A Master of Science (MSc) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience working in a Hardware Reliability Engineer role.
- Experience with stress testing including fatigue testing, vibration testing, shock testing, electrical stress testing, and environmental stress testing.
- Experience with failure analysis methodologies.
- Understanding of the physics of failure and the application of stresses to underlying failure mechanisms.
- Experience with Design for Reliability concepts.
- Experience with the JDM development model.
- Experience with third-party test oversight and test execution.
- Self-motivated, proactive, creative, and possess critical problem-solving capabilities.
