Job Description

A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for providing technical expertise and support in deploying IoT solutions across various industries, helping customers understand and implement connected operations technology to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for new products in the Mid-Market segment, ensuring scalable and repeatable sales processes.
  • Act as a feedback loop between Product Management and the Sales Engineering organization to inform product requirements and beta testing.
  • Enable Account Executives and Sales Engineers to lead with value-based discovery and communicate strategic outcomes of new technologies.
  • Create and deliver enablement content such as demos, whitepapers, and battlecards to support sales efforts.
  • Monitor and track the technical success of new product launches, identifying deployment friction points and ensuring adoption.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering Electrical, CS, Mechanical, Industrial or equivalent practical experience in industrial IoT or SAAS space.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, customer product support, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with structured sales methodologies e.g., Command of the Message, MEDDPICC and the ability to coach others on these concepts.
  • Strong technical curiosity and the ability to quickly master new physical technologies, whether that’s vehicle diagnostics OBD-II J1939, industrial sensors, or API workflows.
  • Comfortable moving between the physical world of hardware and the digital world of cloud software.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, specifically moving products from Early Access to General Availability.
  • Exceptional ability to distill complex bleeding edge technology into clear, value-driven narratives for C-suite stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for customer onsite visits, product testing, and internal sprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote-first environment while maintaining tight alignment with a global SE and Product organization.
  • Experience with APIs and/or scripting languages like Python (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with Databricks Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong experience with operational IoT concepts such as fleet routing, commercial navigation, commercial trucking fleets, logistics, and workforce management (preferred but not mandatory).
