Job Description
The role involves leading the engineering efforts to develop and scale Samsara's routing products, focusing on real-time route optimization, system reliability, and incubating innovative logistics solutions to improve the efficiency and safety of physical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the technical and product vision for routing systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and user experience.
- Translate customer needs and product strategy into actionable roadmaps and oversee engineering execution.
- Lead and grow a multi-team engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical ownership and autonomy.
- Identify and incubate new product opportunities in routing and logistics, exploring emerging technologies.
- Build and maintain scalable, high-performance routing services, ensuring operational excellence and system health.
Requirements
- Experience architecting and scaling distributed systems in domains such as routing engines, mapping services, telematics, logistics optimization, or other real-time systems.
- At least 10 years of engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years leading multi-team organizations managing managers.
- Proven record of building strong engineering cultures and mentoring technical leaders.
- Ability to deeply understand customer workflows and partner with Product to make tradeoffs between speed, impact, and quality.
- Track record of driving availability, performance, and security for mission-critical SaaS systems in high-growth environments.
- Exceptional ability to connect technical architecture to long-term business and product strategy, and to scale systems and organizations simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) or Master’s degree (MS) in Computer Science or a related technical field.
