Job Description
The Data Center Infrastructure Engineer at Canonical is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's lab environment used for Ubuntu server certification, including hardware deployment, configuration, automation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure optimal hardware and software performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the automated server and network hardware lab in Toronto.
- Maintain accurate inventory and physical layout of hardware components.
- Receive, install, and configure new hardware for the data center.
- Use software tools to deploy, configure, and update servers and network switches.
- Exercise MAAS functionality and integrate with testing and scheduling software.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues within the data center.
- Enhance and automate hardware and network monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware specialists, kernel engineers, and certification teams.
Requirements
- A STEM Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Data centre experience
- Linux Administration experience
- Python programming experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
