Job Description
A MAAS Systems Engineer at Canonical is responsible for managing and operating a data center lab to develop and automate server deployment, configuration, and testing, primarily using Python, to improve hardware and software reliability and performance for Ubuntu certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the lab for Ubuntu server certification of hardware and silicon designs
- Develop and enhance MAAS software to automate server and network hardware deployment and configuration
- Create integrations with testing and scheduling tools such as Testflinger and contribute to their improvements
- Remotely operate and maintain a fully automated server lab with cutting-edge hardware
- Automate hardware and network monitoring to improve reliability and performance
- Collaborate with hardware specialists, kernel engineers, and other teams to ensure hardware compatibility and performance
Requirements
- A STEM Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Curiosity to find out why some systems misbehave, and drive to figure out how to make them behave
- Python programming experience
- Linux Administration experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
