Job Description
A Restoration Operator II supports and leads ecological restoration activities across various sites, operating equipment, implementing restoration techniques, and mentoring team members to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead restoration field activities across multiple ecological project sites
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, tractors, and augers in ecological settings
- Perform invasive species control, planting, seeding, erosion, and sediment control activities
- Identify and protect native species and manage invasive species
- Support site clearing and maintenance tasks, including equipment troubleshooting and safety compliance
- Mentor and assist junior team members and crew in safe and effective restoration techniques
- Ensure project activities align with environmental standards and project plans
- Track work hours, complete safety observations, and maintain safety and operational records
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 3 years of ecological restoration experience
- At least 2 years of experience operating construction and restoration equipment
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in the appropriate categories
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk on uneven ground, and climb onto construction equipment
- Strong understanding of project plans and specifications
- Demonstrated leadership in equipment safety, field troubleshooting, or logistics (preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to direct small crews or mentor junior team members (preferred but not mandatory)
- Familiarity with GPS mapping tools and mobile workforce apps (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong communication skills with supervisors and cross-functional field teams (preferred but not mandatory)
